Pyhäjokiseudun Kirjapaino Oy has implemented Flowman Virtual Prepress at it's recently acquired Kajaanin Lehtipaino print site.
“Right after buying the Kajaanin Lehtipaino print plant from Alma Media Plc,. we made substantial investments in quality and efficiency improvement, including a new modern press from Tensor” says managing director Asko Talvi. “We also thought that this is the right time to examine all available solutions in production management and workflow automation.”
“We went through all available solutions for the modern contract printer. We considered all possible systems as well as outsourcing options” says sales director Lauri Hirvonen. “Flowman tunrned out to be unbeatable, both functionally and economically. The Flowman SaaS concept gives us not only the features we need as a ready to use solution, but also all the resources of complete IT and prepress departments at a fraction of the costs compared with having resources of our own".
The solution includes e-business features like extranet for receiving and processing orders integrated with receiving files, validating and remote soft proofing. Features also included receiving and validating mail data (addresses) for subscription based titles. All modern prepress features like ink optimizing, RGB workflow and ink key presetting calculations are standard features as well. Production tracking and management including reporting tools such as monthly waste reports are also integrated into the overall solution.
The solution will be provided as Software as a Service (SaaS), where the software and services are available over the Internet with no on-site installation required. Agreement includes 24x7 user support.
Pyhäjokiseudun Kirjapaino Oy is the largest contract printer specialized in newspaper printing in Northern Finland. The company does not have its own publishing operations. Publishers in Northern Finland have adopted the cost effective, high quality and above all, flexible operations of the company into their own operations. PJSKP prints over 80 regularly issued titles, of which the northernmost is from Ivalo and the southernmost is from Helsinki. PJSKP bought Kajaanin Lehtipaino printing operations from Alma Media Plc on 1.7.2007.
